Head of School

Blisland CP School is a wonderful, small school, nestled on a hill overlooking fields and woodland on the banks of a beautiful river, and I am the lucky person who gets to work with all the fantastic pupils and staff here!
I moved down to Cornwall in 1995 with my husband and three children. I trained to be a teacher when George, my youngest child, started school in 2000.  I taught for many years at Darite Academy, as Head's relief to begin with, but eventually as Assistant Headteacher. I was made Head of School at Trenode Primary Academy in June 2017, and added Blisland to my role in October 2017. I live in Saltash with my husband, the three children having departed for Cambridge and Southampton!
We enjoy walking the coastal footpaths and sailing - as a family we had many family holidays on our sailing boat, Moondance, sailing to France once and the Channel Islands twice. I prefer cruising along the coast to long passages at sea, so we tend to potter up and down the river or along to Fowey or Falmouth mostly now.
Being active is essential for children as it enables them to stay fit, healthy and happy. At Blisland we aim to provide the children with as many opportunities as possible to be active: we try and ensure there is something for everyone to involved in.
I believe that education should be child led. Children are naturally inquisitive and at Blisland we encourage children to ask questions and investigate new and interesting things. This ensures that the children are interested in what they are doing and therefore learning is something they want to do.
Blisland is a great place to grow and learn and I am blessed to be here.
